When he says ingesting medicine isn’t the same as eating he seems to be talking about capsules. That makes sense as they are probably נפסל and many hold there is no אחשבי׳ when taken for medication.

I have always heard משמו that it's fine, and I've always relied on that. Today, I finally asked מו"ר personally, "is there any issue with liquid children's medicines that contain Tarfus" and sure enough he said, "no problem."

There is no reason that it should lose its status of food just because you had those few milligrams if you would take those milligrams of medication and bake it into a loaf of bread, would you be allowed to eat that loaf of bread on pesach?

שקר וכזב, it is a Medicine that has a bit of sugar and flavorings to make it TOLERABLE, It does not make it a food. A real food that has medicine added would be totally different story.

Something which is just under נפסל מאכילת גר or כלב is not something any sane person would have a taava for IME.
