I don't think it's anything nefarious. Their listing highlights the star-k certification, so likely they didn’t realize it's run-specific. Bring it to their attention, get a refund, move on.

That's not the OV, they changed their symbol to ovk because it was too similar to the new VEGAN symbol.

I bought black rice from amazon.
The photo they have has a Star K as the hechser.
But when the item arrived, it came with the OV symbol like is listed on their website
I called Star K and they said they only certify specific runs. OV Kosher said that is not their symbol anymore, it is actually the "Vegan" symbol" and they do not certify it.
I just find it interesting that this company decided to use a very uncommon "vegan" symbol, in the place of their regular kosher symbol, coincidently it is the old OV symbol.
This site specifically says that OV owns the right to The O with the Times New Roman Font uppercase V, and it should not be used as a Vegan Symbol. There are countless other recognizable vegan symbols out there, do I smell foul play?

I tried reaching out to the company via Amazon and their website, I did not receive a response. What are your thoughts?

I am sure there was some instances of it happening, but the real Vegan symbol is not with this font, as outlined here. That still leaves room for confusion, but doesnt really give a reason for a company to use it over any of these...

On a similar note,does OU have a rules with their symbols like if you have to use their specific file? I see it looks like any company they certify use random fonts/proportions; it really looks a bit shady sometimes....

OK is many many times bigger, and keto is way smaller.
