Saw this in another group. Does the below make sense? Product was under KVH:
Was in Costco today and noticed the taboule didn’t have a kosher certification on it. I sent a message to the company via their Facebook page and this was their response:
"Hi,
We recently had to make a tough call which required the removal of our kosher label. The truth is parsley can carry a small insect, aphids. Our parsley is machine washed with top of the line, industrial equipment 3 to 4 times. However, when the Rabbi inspects and finds 1 aphid all of the produce must be thrown out. Knowing how each piece of food must be carefully inspected, our company has much respect for the kosher process. However, if there is 1 aphid found on a parsley leaf we must throw away thousands of pounds of produce. We have now been in the dilemma to either keep up kosher standards, or to not waste the thousands of pounds of food. We have decided to continue our same high standards in the vegetable cleaning process as, but drop the kosher label for our taboule. We are thankful for our Kosher customers, and hope they can understand this decision. "
