What's the difference

Not sure that there should be, but it's common knowledge that Pepsi is kosher without a hechsher for example. I always thought that many juices were problematic, however no real knowledge one way or the other

It had some weird hechsher looking symbol on it... Wasn't sure if it was actually a hechsher, and how reliable.

Btw, for some reason my perception is that bottled drinks and sodas are very often kosher without any hechsher visable.

the reason for that is because the product (syrup) is certified, but not the bottling plant. So they can't always put a hechsher on the bottle, but all they're doing is adding honey.
I didn't see a hechsher on the bottle, and I tried to check if it's private label of one of the big national brands, but did not succeed

natural flavors, additives, etc.
Generally, soda is bottled by combining a few components and filling the bottles. 1. Flavor emulsion (known as the syrup or base) 2. Sweetener (usually hfcs) 3. CO2. The last 2 are known as Group 1 or generically kosher. Since it's cold fill, if the emulsion is known to be kosher, it's accepted as kosher. (This only applies if tbe emulsion is known to be kosher)
Teas on the other hand can be hot fill they can also have probiotics mixed in nowadays (kambucha) and with lesser known brands, it may not be known if indeed the emulsion is certified.

According to media reports, Barkan Winery was forced by Eida Charedis to remove Ethiopian (Jewish) workers from the production lines. I had thought that there was consensus on this question (as was paskened by Rav Ovadya), but I guess I was wrong.

it's not on any of the lists (see wiki). There was some controversy when Rabbi Blech was niftar whether anyone was in charge. see upthread, mid January or so. They haven't updated their website since then which is telling.
