I asked a south african recently about the same exact product
He told me it is a very good hechsher, except their שיטה is that something is parve even if it is made with dairy equipment, so you have make sure the label doesn't say that it may contain traces of/made on dairy equipment.
In this case, this would be fine
Your friend is mistaken. Items made on dairy equipment are marked as dairy.
When a product says "may contain traces of..." or "made in a facility..." those are allergen statements which have no bearing on an item's kashrus status. An item can be made on a line that is kosher or parev but in the same facility as a completely separate line that produces treif or dairy products and it will be marked as kosher or parev even if it is still required to issue an allergen statement. This is true in South Africa and the USA
Sounds like they're sfardi.
They are not. There is one hechsher for the entire community, which includes 3 standards of shechita, including Beis Yosef for the Sefardi community.
