Would be nice if AKO would be to the Kashrus field what FINRA is to the financial field.

They get to define it. Some will define it as having a shomer shabbos on premises, some will have someone whose dedicated job is mashgiach and some will allow them to be doing various other jobs too.

I don't know which agency in Israel does this but some rely on cameras for it to be cholov yisroel. And rely on cameras in order that farmers shouldn't use milk that was milked on Shabbos.

I can't see this happening unless there is major consumer demand/outcry about this. Certain agencies are extremely transparent, while others are less so.

As far as consumer demand, it's enough to look at how centered on Kashrus the advertisements of Pesach programs are, to realize that the consumer focus isn't there.

One way this might happen would be if serious agencies would actually use and promote the use of "Member AKO" as part of their logos/certifications, and AKO in turn would have (they might, at least to a certain extent) required training, certification, continued education for various types of mashgichim.

Those that rely on it use a snif the fact that the farm is Jewish owned.
