Skittles Littles Original are kosher even without OU on packaging. This applies to both bags and tubes. No special code or date needed. There will soon be an OU on them but they are acceptable already as of now.

Why did they finally decide to get certified? And only original little size?

Was there a cookie that needed certification? That's how M and Ms got certified as the ice cream and cookie companies insisted on it.

You would need to reach out to OU regarding that.

I compared the ingredients between the littles and original and they seem to be the same. Perhaps its the plant or line that it is produced that may make the difference.

I know traditionally european skittles were easier to certify because the purple ones are black current and not grape like in the US

I should have worded the first sentence differently. Rabbi Nathanson who works for the OU shared the following info and has been confirmed by Rabbi Zibell... theres no issue waiting for the new packaging. I was just sharing the info.

I didn't listen to the entire thing before posting. I just got to the part where he discusses חלב ישראל etc. He starts at 24:00 discussing whether R' Moshe's hetter is applicable nowadays in NY. Continues at 33:00 with evidence that the current מציאות isn't congruent with what R' Moshe writes about חלב הקאמפעניס, tells a story at 39:15 about how a farmer cares about every drop of milk, and could easily adulterate, and finally at 48:00 discusses the מציאות of DA Cows which remains an unresolved issue by non-CY production, and is a דאורייתא.

it's beyond how several prominent kashrus poskim have presented this as an issue deoiraysa . I also don't understand how they've extended bitul issues to kol dparish and/or ruba dlesa kaman. But I'm ears...and yes, I've asked 2 of the prominent poskim who have written about this mad the answers were less than enlightening to say the least.
(And yes, I'm makpid on cy and keilim)

Rav Schachter concern is not specific to DA intervention but rather sirchos on slaughtered dairy cows.... That also has serious issues with the metzius.... Namely, they're slaughtered at the end of their milking life because....they're no longer giving (sufficient) milk. How does that reflect on the cows still in the milking cycle and what are the proportions of cows in at the end of their cycle vs the beginning?
