Incidentally you can buy Starpoints directly from SPG at a whopping 3.5cpp and get US miles for less than 1.81cpm, or from someone else for way cheaper.

I know that. But isn't there a low cap on SPG points? And doesn't the transfer take a long time?
I don't need any, but I can see this deal working for some.

Not any longer than that!

And if you can't find SPG for far less than 3.5cpp that's a shame.  Even at 3.5 the low cap can be easily be workaround.

Purely out of curiosity, is the workaround multiple SPG accts?
And I meant you would get 3/4 of the points within a day or two, so this is a pretty good deal if someone needs the points now.

I got the email too, and they keep talking about "50,000 free points".  There's nothing free about bonus points.
