I know of a case where a son was not on his father's insurance and was driving his friends car and got in an accident, the victim came after the fathers insurance bc the son lived at home. In the end the fathers insurance didn't pay out bc the father owned a 2 family house and proved that his son lived in the other apt.
Did the son have his own insurance policy? You should clarify. If the son had his own policy but the victim wanted a bite of the father's (richer) coverage, then props to the father for successfully defending himself. If the son did not have his own policy, then the story sounds so close to fraud that you probably shouldn't say it out loud. Did the father really prefer that his son be an uninsured party in an accident involving injury/property damage? That would risk jail time/losing his license
No, you got it wrong, allstate pays out. Whoever is telling you allstate doesn't pay is fake news. I've seen them pay on the spot for claims. They wanted to know if the son lived at home with the father. The father didn't want allstate to pay out bc than his premium goes up so the father had to prove that the son doesn't live with him
Is combining car insurance cheaper when getting married?
If having a joint policy, do we both need to complete the driver defense course or one of us enough to get the drivers discount? And anyone know which one is good one?
Anyone have a different legitimate website that shops for the best rate? Vs me inputting my info for the top 10 companies.
I tried 5minuteinsure that's listed in the wiki. -1 Anyone have a different legitimate website that shops for the best rate? Vs me inputting my info for the top 10 companies.
TBH don't think it exists. All these websites just redirect you. Try all the big guys on their websites. State Farm, Geico, Progressive, etc.
https://www.5minuteinsure.com instantly compares quotes between multiple carriers and they don't sell your information. You can get Auto, Home or Bundle policy. As far as Geico is concerned, they don't participate in any independent agents selling their products, similar to the way Southwest Airlines doesn't participate in Expedia.P.S. They have a very cool Learning center for Insurance https://www.5minuteinsure.com/learning-center/
Thanks for sharing that link. But their quotes disappoint me- 50/100k is robust coverage? And the prices are through the roof compared to other quotes I just got yesterday for higher limits.
Hence the -1
Still appreciate that he shared it, was worth a try
