Been on geico in nyc and after too many rates raises, looking for another. Any way to get quotes from multiple places without getting spammed everywhere?

Call an agent who will shop it with multiple carriers

Call an agent who will shop it with multiple carriers
...And then check the 1 or 2 major carriers that your agent wont use.

If i add myself to a title or vehicle registration in NJ as a co owner, would both names need to be insured for the vehicle?

Story behind this is as follows, will explain what i'm trying to accomplish by adding a co-owner.

I bought out a lease that a sibling had. Now being that its a hyundai there's a 10yr/100k miles(whichever comes first) powertrain(engine, trans, axle) warranty that's for the 1st owner.
So as soon as i switch ownership that warranty is downgraded to a 5yr/60k miles.

Now before i just void that warranty by transferring ownership outright was thinking if there's a way to preserve that.
Either by adding a co owner or by... if there's another idea that you guys have in mind that would work.

In NY it seems you would be able to keep the title in his name, and then register the car in your name, there's no reason to change the title, they let you keep it as is. while in NJ they need to the title to match the registration.

I tried changing the info online in his account to my name which would avoid this entire issue, but the only way i can transfer the name would be one of these ways seen below in the picture. Any of these doable? or know of someone that can help me with this?

I owe the car and only have for liability
28 years old never got an accident and only 3 seatbelt ticket a few years ago.

I try with geico and state farm they all take high also

If someone can get me lower im ready to pay commission

On a lease(which I’m assuming it is)minimum coverage is quite high.

I agree it’s not bad at all especially under 25 and no previous coverage

A gap in coverage will make the rates go up. Why was there a gap in coverage?

Check out Ameriprise. If you haveca Costco membership, you'll probably save more than the cost of the membership.

When I had Ameriprise, they did not count a seat belt ticket against me. Maybe Geico does and that's the difference.

how many years? less than 3 years counts for all insurances, between 3 and 5 depends on the company.

When you have the minimum coverage it doesn't look good on you. It shows the insurance companies that you don't care and take very big risks.
So when you switch companies, the company your trying to switch to sees that you were insured for the minimum and they will charge you more because in their eyes you are a bigger risk.

Does it usually make sense to switch from GEICO to the Costco membership insurance?

The answer to this and similar questions in(much of) this thread is that nobody knows. The only way to find out is to quote it out and compare. There is no one company that’s always going to be cheaper. Every situation is unique.

lapse of coverage most likely the issue - I have 2 seatbelt tickets didn't notice a spike because of it just the usual slow rise..
years ago I heard some insurance companies ask about a lapse in the last x years and some just ask if you are currently insured. You may want to get onto insurance and then go shopping for a company that doesn't ask about a lapse just if you are currently insured.

I've never seen a plan that does this. Charging extra for gaps in coverage, sure. But for selecting legal coverage that was lower than they'd like, I doubt it.

I've seen it, I work in in insurance

Insurance companies have so much data to know who are bigger risks and not

True.
But I was asking if generally people are finding insurance through Costco to be cheaper.

I don't think there is a general answer.

I made a tiny accident and I was in the back so I am clearly at fault. Is there a way I can offer the insurance I will pay what they got billed for by the other guy and they should not put the claim on my record? Also is there a way I can ask them what the other guy is claiming as it was a small scratches but that guy would not budge and only wanted to bill insurance but I want to make sure he doesn't rip off tons of things.
We did not make a report. But we have pictures and videos of what happened. Any ideas for my best step would be greatly appreciated
