are they driving a beater? consider forgoing collision and comprehensive coverage and getting only liability.

A younger family member wants to get Car insurance.
On progressive
The broker suggests he add an older member to the policy. This will significantly reduce the rate.
He claims on this progressive policy if he is involved in a collision it will only go on his record not on the older member added to the policy.

Does anyone know this to be true?

A relative told me something like this happened to him, also with a tesla and IIRC Geico. I think he just switched to a different insurance company.

It depends on the insurer. When I replaced my Camry with a M3, the increase was negligible with Allstate.

Sorry, my numbers were off.
The policy with GEICO is for $1700 a year to insure a couple.
GEICO wants $900 to add a 19 year old girl.
It sounds high to me.
Is this normal?
