Besides possible DMV implications is there any issue in removing and adding a vehicle from time to time with Geico?

for example if I have a minivan and just want to use it a few days or weeks per year can I remove it for most of the year and then add it for a few days/weeks and remove it again?

Its not worth it. Your rates will skyrocket for a lapse

meaning what? Geico will see the minivan was uninsured and when I try adding it back they will raise the rate on that car or my policy?  But remember I am only adding it for a few days or so so that will be pretty negligible?

also to clarify this would be just for the minivan I would still have insurance coverage for the other cars so I am not sure if a lapse in coverage is the right term here.

has anybody done this any negative repercussions?  Is it allowed?

In NY you cant remove a car from policy unless you send back the plates, or switch it with another car

Im in NJ and I did add another car.  I know the DMV might send me something about uninsured but then I can add the car back on again for a day?

There are brokers who can check multiple companies for you. I’ve used these guys in the past: Capstone 7322869600

Can vouch for capstone too. I did comparisons with all major insurance companies. They came out the cheapest.

I just used a different place a friend recommended after Progressive raised my rates, not very good communication (maybe summer vacation), and they sent me something more expensive than what I had already. Why do people use these agencies? Are these places able to get lower rates, or just convinience?

I used them for the prices. Currently on Plymouth Rock (they acquired the original company I was on. I forgot the name.)
I pay ~950 for 12 months, older car - 2013, and don't drive too many miles

I just got a quote with them, more than $200 cheaper for six months. But it seems like you need a smartphone, is that true?

Why would you need that? Is it part of a discount to track your driving?

Not worth the hassle dealing with this if you don’t have a smart phone IMHO

I don't/didn't. But that could be because my plan was in effect when they bought out the company.

I see

I was wondering if it had to do with the fact that you used a broker, but I guess you don't know. Maybe I'll give them a call.

I'm lending my old car to a relative for two months and I'm worried about my insurance premiums if he gets into an accident. I’m making him get non-owner's insurance, but I’m wondering would his non-owner's insurance cover liability without affecting my policy? I'm not concerned about damage to my car, just the liability. Would my insurance still go up, or would his policy handle it?

(I’ve called GEICO a few times, but their reps gave me conflicting answers.)
