what would happen if a group of kids damaged a car on a test drive and they are not on their parents policy?  Would the dealership have their own coverage or would they go after the kids parents insurance etc....?
I don't know what they do in that case but if they do try to get the parents policy to cover if they can prove that the kids live at home than they could go after the parents policy

Even if the kid was never put on their parents' policy?

Yes, alot of states require the insurance company to cover the household, that's 1 reason why they want you to add the children to the policy bc they are required by law to cover them

1. What do most people do when their teenagers get their license; do they just pay the heft increase?
2. With Geico or other insurers is proof that the child is living in the dorms in bait midrash enough to take him off as a driver in the household? what proof was accepted?

I don't have specific details, but I think if they live more than 100 miles away you don't need to pay for them.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

interesting where did you get the 100 miles from?   I thought it has to do all so whether they reside in your residence?

My parked minivan  was crashed into by a hit and run driver. Side and tail lights broke - trunk got dented (can live with it the way it is) and the side may be a bit misaligned if I have to attached new housings for the lights. I have a $500 deductible. Should I file an insurance claim? What is the probably impact on my insurance? I have GEICO. FWIW - I do have a police report.

When I got my license, we got a letter from the "registrar" that I lived in the dorm, and it was accepted. I don't know which insurance my parents had at the time.

ETA: within 100 miles (closer to 25)

The claim will go under collision coverage. You can expect it to affect your future premiums.

Depends on the insurance company. They have different rules for not living at home.

All this generic banter and not one person on the entire DDF can share an actual experience with adding a teenage driver?

Thanks for the dp. Unless a family has one car for each driver, I wouldn't have expected that adding a young driver to a policy that already had two others would be so significant. An increase of $2k per year wouldn't surprise me for adding the first young driver, but if it's each time that's eye popping
