Someone mentioned to me that Allstate is a stickler for paying out Auto Insurance claims.
I currently have them now 6 month renewal. Any reason truth to it, any reason to switch?

Does a typical insurance policy cover me when I rent a car through Turo?
(I'm waiting for my insurance to get back to me but figured maybe someone already checked)
Turo pushes heavily to take one of their coverage packages, I just and to confirm before I decline it.
Fyi my agent confirmed with Plymouth rock that rentals with Turo are covered. (Not renting out your car to others)

Why don't you rely on the CC insurance for rentals?
From my understanding,
If you need to bill insurance; if you bill your car insurance company, your rates will likely go up and will be in your record. CC insurance OTOH (that covers despite having primary car insurance) doesn't go on your record etc.

They all exclude Turo

IINM ,In NY state the insurance companies are required to pay for anyone in the household that's why the insurance companies add your kids automatically so they can rate the policy correctly.  They have to pay out, they may choose to non renew you if this happens.

I know of a case where a son was not on his father's insurance and was driving his friends car and got in an accident, the victim came after the fathers insurance bc the son lived at home. In the end the fathers insurance didn't pay out bc the father owned a 2 family house and proved that his son lived in the other apt.

Number one: They don't "automatically add". They require you to add.

Number two: Which insurance company was that?

Number Three: Did his "friends car" have insurance on it?

Number one: I've seen it where the children are added automaticall and parents call up asking how they can remove them.

Number two: allstate

Number 3: don't remember if it had or it had minimum coverage

Side note: I've also seen where kids got injured in a car accident in someone else's car in another state, that the fathers car insurance from NY covered his kids bills.

Again, Allstate does not like paying out. Stick to Geico and some others. Stay away from Allstate if you want your claims paid out.

No, you got it wrong, allstate pays out.

Whoever is telling you allstate doesn't pay is fake news. I've seen them pay on the spot for claims.

They wanted to know if the son lived at home with the father. The father didn't want allstate to pay out bc than his premium goes up so the father had to prove that the son doesn't live with him

Did the son have his own insurance policy? You should clarify. If the son had his own policy but the victim wanted a bite of the father's (richer) coverage, then props to the father for successfully defending himself.

If the son did not have his own policy, then the story sounds so close to fraud that you probably shouldn't say it out loud. Did the father really prefer that his son be an uninsured party in an accident involving injury/property damage? That would risk jail time/losing his license

+1000

They are more expensive but great at paying out
