many times i wana eat late and thers nowhere to go.
I would give you names but they prob all closed by now. I know a new shawarma place opened where hakotel used to be bathurst/steels
So because they close at 10 they deserve to go out of business?
IIRC they made a mean steak sandwich.

Especially good for when you're in the mood for a nice dinner, but not in a meat mood.

And that happens when?

No, because they had horrible service poor food and made me leave at 9:45 cuz they were closing at 10 even though I was in middle of my meal. And I know many people who complained to the owner but he didn't care.

9 days, after a yomtov, after a fast, not too hungry, etc. Fish is much lighter on the stomach (compared to meat) IMHO.

All kidding aside, I would take a good steak over great fish any time. But that's just me, I hear where you guys are coming from.

Except if you go to a place like Orchidea because you feel like having their amazing french onion soup and scrumptious creme-brulee, what will you have for the main course if not the mahi-mahi, huh? ;)

Here's my NYC list (in no particular order):

Mike's Bistro - quickly becoming my favorite NYC restaurant. Ambiance is excellent, and the duck gnocchi is outstanding. The steak is also top 3 for me (they only have one to choose).
Le Carne - The first steak that blew my mind. Though as time went on, I became progressively more disappointed.
Deli Kasbah - Definitely not the best in the world, but their food consistently excellent, especially their steak strips and brazilian steak.
ETC - Yes, it's in Teaneck, not in NYC, but the last three times I've been there, it has rivaled Mike's and at least once has far surpassed it. The menu is constantly changing, but the best dish we had there was pomegranate steak strips. Un.real. I think I'm going there Sunday night for the "tasting menu," seven smaller dishes of the chef's best dishes. <licks lips>

Can't wait to try:

Tierra Sur - I hope to try in August.
Ladino Tapas - I hope to try in the coming weeks.

Random notes: The pepper steak at Le Marais, as I've mentioned before on DDF, is spectacular. Don't care for much else, or the ambiance for that matter. I found the sushi at TPG to be the best sushi I've had the pleasure of eating. I've been underwhelmed by Clubhouse, but can appreciate the ambiance... at times. Last, I heart Benny's pizza in Brooklyn. Man, that stuff be good.

lol. my brother in law went there; he told me that the waiters are all blind people and as soon as u enter the restaurant, it is a total blackout, u need to hold the waiter's hand in order to bring u to the table and of course on the path u hit people, tables, chairs, etc... and whenever your friend gets food before u, u don't hesitate eating from his plate or eating with your hands  ;D

Pardes definitely deserves to be in the discussion.  The menu is ever changing and very seasonal but the flavors and the creativity are there in almost every dish.

Mike's Bistro: The duck gnocchi is one of the best bites of food I have ever had but overall the menu, albeit really good, is not worth the price.

Lotus Miami (Surfside, FL): Asian.  Price is good and dishes are very flavorful.  I especially recommend the braised lamb noodles

Prime Grill: Delmonico is awesome.  (for those discussing delmonico, you cant compare different restaurants delmonico steaks because it is not a specific cut of meat rather it is a method of preparation and even that can be stretched, especially in kosher cuisine.  It is generally used as a name for a restaurants top steak.) One negative is that the menu has been pretty constant and its a little boring.
