Cheapest pre-paid cell plan
« on: June 06, 2012, 02:55:45 PM »
My parents come to the US a couple times a year and I'm looking for the best pre-paid plan for them. Someone mentioned you can get a plan for $2 a day for unlimited calling. Anybody hear of such a plan?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

They often come in for just a few day. I would rather a plan where they are not paying for when they are not here.

If they want to  be able to always have the same number, I'd recommend Pageplus' $80 plan it gives you 2000 minutes which last a year.

It's a plus but price is more important. Does anyone know of this $2/day unlimited?

You can do it all on the phone (on the Verizon ones at least)

Definitely don't bother with AT&T. For the same $2 a day you can get talk, text and web with T-Mobile. AT&T's network isn't any better than T-Mobile's IME. Verizon may be more worthwhile, especially if they don't need web, because of the quality of the network. Also, if they if you have Verizon and they'll basically just be calling you (no text or web either), they have a $1/day plan for unlimited Verizon to Verizon.

Why is Tmobile better than AT&T. I am leaning to Verizon because of best network but I was considering AT&T cuz they include unlimited text. They do not need web at all.
