My experiences:

At JFK was issued a gate pass at the Premier Access counter with no questions asked. For some reason, they still asked me for a boarding pass at the club, so I handed them my gate pass. I also flashed my club card at security to access the priority line, as the gate pass doesn't say Premier Access.

At LAX while traveling on United, I requested gate passes for my grandparents. After some hesitation from the agent, they were issued passes and followed me through security without incident.

I believe they've always asked for my boarding pass at the club. This may just be because they want to remind me when my flight is boarding.

Generally, I only go to the club for the bathroom and drinks (and fruit). The ones at JFK and LAX are always extremely crowded.

Does the united mileage plus explorer card givr free access to united lounges with the cc alone or do you need the pass cards?

Additionally, with a one time pass card can i use GG 53?

I dont really need the lounge, just need a gate pass.

Had a bit more trouble at LAX this time. Again, I wanted to bring my grandparents to the club and past security. The agents first said they couldn't issue gate passes, and then called the club to confirm. After they handed us the passes, they once again called to confirm and held us there. Then we were let in, but they didn't direct me to the Premier Access TSA Pre line. Will write them a good ol' fashioned letter.

Tidbit:
I've gotten a gate pass in EWR by asking ticket agent nicely, reason was to escort my 17 yo brother to the gate. My parents have done this many times too. Even without lounge card/pass.

I checked in 3 weeks ago in EWR and I wanted my parents to come in I have the club card and at check-in for premier access they didn't know what a gate pass is and they told me no such thing,they called a supervisor,and then they told us to go down a floor to the main cheek-in floor,and go to door 5,it says on top on the screen GATE PASS and they know everything about it.

So anyone traveling from EWR don't waste time just go straight to them they are very helpful.
