Lost baggage
« on: June 08, 2012, 03:52:06 PM »
Hi can anyone help me out, I flew with lufhtansa this past winter to frankfurt and they lost two suitcases, so as i landed i went to the lost and found office and opened up a case with a claim number, now after a couple of months going back and forth with them they finally said i should send them in receipts and they will reimburse me, so after sending them in all my receipts that i had, they email me that they have a policy of maximum reimbursement of Liability for checked baggage that is regulated by the Montreal Convention and is limited to a maximum of  $1131.00 for the total amount of baggage checked. and they claim they cant give me any more even if it was two bags that were lost. so can anyone help me out what to do they should at least give me some credit, or vouchers ETC.??

Just to clarify, I think Sky121 was asking whether you claimed from your CC for items bought that were lost in the luggage.

Although their asking for receipts is kind of silly -- if I packed a suitcase tomorrow, I may have nothing at all in there that I bought recently, and would therefor have no receipts available for anything that was lost.

IIRC they reimburse you based on the weight of your luggage. x amount of $ per lb.

When going from TLV - CLE, my bag w/ clothing on a tik booked through AA was lost by them.
They told me to submit my expenses to them and gave me a card to submit. It's been 2 days now, and I've bought a few hundred $$ of clothes (not all which will be kept).
Anyone have any idea on what my clothing allowance is? I'm returning Sunday, so I'm not sure what they're going to do.

My friend and I flew to israel a while back with air france right before rosh hashana - the luggage missed the connection and was lost -  so come erev rosh hashana nad he didnt have clothes, I called air france they said he can spend $350 and he will be reimbursed. I told them that we has specific religious clothes we need and they cost way more. they let us spend up to $1200

2 days later they found his luggage and shipped it to him

I landed in lga on american airlines from mia at 2 pm and my luggage was not with me. They just found one of them now at 7 pm and the other one is still lost. I booked the tickets with amex but I wasn't enrolled in the baggage insurance on that card. Any advice on how to be compensated for this?

That's why you always need to book with AMEX.
Airlines sending me "We're in this together" emails.

Bruh, where were you when my suitcase weighed it 51.50 pounds?

I did book with Amex. I just forgot to enroll in the baggage insurance. Is there any option now to be compensated through Amex or do I have to go through American?

Are you saying that using AMEX is not enough you still need to enroll? If yes how do you enroll?

If you have to enroll that is a surprise to many of us we all assumed we are automatically covered.
