Is 45 Minutes enough time to transfer at ZRH?
« on: June 09, 2012, 03:31:22 PM »
I want to book a flight that leaves TLV at 5am arrives in ZRH at 8:20 on Swiss. Then connect to LH flight leaving at 9:05 and arriving FRA at 10:10. I need to make a 1PM flight to IAD from FRA. Will this work or is it risky? And what are the chancces that my bags wont make the connection (different airlines 45min connection)? I will be in business does that make a difference? Thanks for any input!!

It's risky, but if you don't make it there are later flights to IAD. Ultimately the airlines are responsible to carry you to your final destination. As a business class passenger I doubt you will encounter any issues with that.

When getting to the "customs" check after the monorail, standing in front of those alligned boothes, go for the far left ones (transfer).

If I miss a 1hr connection in ZRH to TLV (booked on UA) will UA/Swiss be able to get me on the 12:40PM flight co-shared with ElAl (assuming there are seats)? Or will I need to wait for the 10:45PM flight operated by Swiss?

Right, that's wy I'm asking. The question is- whose responsible to rebook if I miss the swiss flight- UA or Swiss? If it's Swiss I would imagine they can book me on the ElAl flight.

Anyone have any input here? More people may know the answer now that this flight is wildly popular!

Only in the USA do they replace flights with no questions asked, in europe there needs to be a delay, and them agreeing that you could not have made it faster from the plane you just landed to the boarding gate of your continuing flight.

What!! The UA agent who booked me said there would be no issue if we missed it. What is the procedure once we arrive in ZRH? Can we go directly to the other gate? Are they in the same terminal?

Traveling from USA-TLV ?

You stay in the E terminal, no problem at all.

Nice. But back to my original question. If for some reason I need to go on a later flight does Swiss have the power to put me on the afternoon ElAl flight or can they not do that since it was booked with UA miles?

Power I suppose yes, but they will have the power to charge a lot for it.

OK, let me be more clear. Let's say my flight from EWR-ZRH is delayed (ie not my fault)- can they put me on the ElAL flight for free? Ultimately, who's responsibility is it that I get re-ticketed- UA or Swiss?

in other words, yes, it will be free.

Thanks. So it seems like you are saying it is Swiss' responsibility to re-book me and they can then put me on the ElAl flight (assuming I convince them it wasn't my fault). Great!

Don't try play tricks, not there, unless you really had a delay on the incoming flights there.
