I'm lookng for one that can hold a lot. I heard there are some that u can insert a memory card, basically making it that u have unlimited space.

if you're looking specifically for memory slot, may i suggest Sansa?
i use the Clip+ ; it has full id3 indexing of the card, and bonus, it uses generic mini USB power slot (not proprietary ipod) allowing for easier in-car charging

I use the sansa (small model) and its brilliant, forget the ipod, unless you need a lot of GB's.

definitely not an fm transmitter. The last one i had was terrible. I found the best ones to be the ones that go in the tape deck (but who has a tape deck anymore?)

fm transmitters are your only option unless you pay to wire it up

there are a few options, depending on your system;
*Aux input jack ($5 cord) available in most newer cars, not many home stereo  systems. (best sound quality)
*tape deck adapter ($3-5) most older cars and stereo systems (decent sound quality)
*fm transmitter. the only thing that's definitely available in pretty much EVERY car and home stereo system (can be hit-or-miss on quality)

How much does it cost to add an auxiliary input into a car without one?

ask your mechanic
i think we can safely assume dan knew the mechanic can quote him a price. his question then must have been if anyone here knew the price. just my 2 cents though. i might be wrong
