When downgrading, you will not be able to transfer out until you get a "higher earning" MR card. Just something to keep in mind.

If you want to keep the MR, you need to apply for a card that gives you MR.  Everyday card gives you Dollar Rewards, not MR. If you ask them for an incentive to keep the card open for another year, it might be worth paying the AF.

Correct. Unless before closing the card, you transfer the MR to a FF program

Nope, the no AF Amex Everyday also transfers to miles.

Can't downgrade from charge to credit.
You can apply for it and you'll earn 10k

AFAIK thy dont let you down grade to every day card from personal experience and some reports here but YMMV wont hurt trying but HUCA is unlikely to help you here

Why wouldn't you apply for the card - and get the bonus miles - rather than trying to downgrade?  Unless it will screw-up your chances of getting a higher rewards card in the future?
