how far is Waltham or Braintree from the touristy area and from the kosher food area

also what is the best restaurant in boston?

Kosher food area = Harvard street in brookline. There is also Milk St Cafe downtown--ask your NLOR (nonlocal orthodox rabbi).

I dunno about touristy stuff.  I don't do touristy stuff.  But if they'll have a car, Boston isn't really that big...

the  Liberty from Starwood's Luxury Collection would make an interesting choice.
+1
I'd go for that

I'm not that familiar with the area. Is that a decent hotel? Do I have any other options? Any orthodox shul in any area is fine. Thanks.

How's this:

There are orthodox shuls in: Brighton, Brookline, Newton, and Cambridge within the immediate boston area. Any hotel in those areas will probably be not more than a mile from a shul.

Brookline and brighton, which are contiguous. Brighton tends more yeshivish comparatively.

free!!!

take the SL1 to govt center, transfer to the red and take to park, transfer to the green--make sure it's the "B"--and get off at washington st (i think). You'll be about a half mile away from where you're going

the SL1 is free. It is the airport shuttle that connects you to the public transportation. It runs underground for most of its route.

The red is a subway. The transfer is free.

The green is a trolley. The transfer is free, because you don't leave the station.

They will all be running at 1PM.

Your alternative is a taxi for about 40 bucks. Or uber for like 20. The airport is not so close, and there are tolls on the way.
