I'm not saying all the men learning should stop and go to the Army. In fact I disagree with that completely. Learning Torah brings great things for us. And again I wasn't specifically talking about the Army but there are many people learning who could contribute a great deal to the country and Army. And in a country like Israel everyone should have some knowledge of being trained in survival skills.

I guess being that the current case is unfortunately a country who's creation's sole purpose was to erdadicate judaisim, there will tend to be war to wake them up from their slumber, so, i propose the ones who are not learning (since the learning are protecting) and are the cause of war i.e..... be the ones to fight.

I for sure agree with the second statement to a degree. Its more the attitude that comes along from most learning Israelis that bothers me.


I spoke to a Rav in Montreal once who told me when the six day war was going on he went to volunteer to fight from London. He was passionate about going to help his country. He felt he should fight for it. And no not everyone is meant for fighting and yes you are doing by learning. It's the attitude that really ticks me off. It's as if it's beneath them. And it's worse in todays generation than its ever been. They turned this Rabbi down and he stayed learning. But the story made a big impression on me. It's someone like that I'd want "learning for my country" in the first place.

No this is first hand. Israeli media hate frum people. I'm aware of that. They're never going to have nice things to say. Then again many of the  exaggerations are based on truth.

This is first hand from friends, family and others in Israel.
