Update: 6/16/15:
So I smed chase again and got the same response, denying to match to 140k. I then called Chase and got a very nice rep who tried to match it for me but was unsuccessful. It said in her system that they were only matching to 140k credit cards that were applied before April 30th. I applied May 14th. She then gave me 5k Ritz points as a courtesy and told me to try to call Ritz Rewards and ask them to replace my 2 free nights with the equivalent amount of points (probably not 140k). I did just that and the Ritz rep said she cannot do that. Blah blah.....
This really sucks <img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/tapatalk-emoji/emoji35.png" />

Update: 3/23/15: Many recent reports of successful match to 140k offer via SM
Updated link: https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/ritz-carlton-card.aspx
Standard offer is for 2 free nights at Ritz Cat 1-4 which is not too bad either.

Update 2/9/15: DEAD
current offer  140k bonus points +$300 airline credit annual fee 395 not waived
link https://www.theritzcarltonrewardscard.com/offer140k

To get $300 airline credit call 1-855-896-2222
don't buy gift cards from Chase affiliated airlines (United, SW..)
As Chase may be able to see what you purchased

JetBlue seat upgrades and delta seat upgrades worked for me.
Airline GC are very YMMV as there are reports of chase asking for receipts.
(Seat upgrades are officially covered in the T & C.)

I am kind of annoyed. I tried to make a booking using the club upgrade for the Ritz Fort Lauderdale. The regular rate online was $259, when I called they said i had to pay the price of an ocean view room since all club rooms are ocean view. The rate for cheapest ocean view was $350. No where in the terms which I will quote below say anything about needing to book the same type of room. The only thing the terms say are not combinable with other offers.

From the chase site:
Quote
Club Level offer valid at participating hotels on up to three paid stays per Account Year using The Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card with a seven night maximum length of stay, subject to availability at time of reservation. ("Account Year" means the year beginning with your account open date through the first statement after the anniversary of your account open date, and each twelve billing cycles thereafter.) E-Certificate is required, is non-transferable, and not combinable with other offers. Not valid on corporate or other promotional rates. Chase Bank USA, N.A. is not responsible for offer fulfillment or the provision of or a failure to provide the stated benefits and services.

It is not easy to understand the gold benefits of Marriot. They have many properties and different marriots and some have breakfast and lounge access and some not. I have the 140k on marriot account.

No breakfast or lounge access at JW Marriots, Renaissance & Marriot resort hotels?

Lounge Access/Free Breakfast
Free daily continental breakfast, light snacks and beverages for members and one guest in the Executive Lounge*. In the U.S. and Canada, choose between 750 bonus points or breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant if the lounge is closed. Select hotels will provide 1,000 points in lieu of breakfast in the event the lounge is closed. Learn more

* At JW Marriott®, Autograph Collection®, Renaissance® and Marriott Hotels® (resorts excluded)

Complain to JPMorgan. They will turn over backwards to satisfy you. The CS on this products is almost worth the 395.

Been discussed many times in this thread. The answer is that pggm does not work. Buy a refundable jet blue ticket, buy extra legroom, and call up to get the credit. It won't post automatically.

Thanks for the tip. I assume,  a)the extra legroom / upgrade can be bought after the original ticket is purchased (as mentioned upthread) and b) the extra legroom or upgrade is fully refundable as well?

yes

Thanks. I'll try this out very soon - will probably have to book a handful of tickets to hit the $300.

Its unclear to me what I need to do about accounts. MillionMile wrote in http://millionmilesecrets.com/2014/09/25/ritz-carlton-140000-point-offer-and-the-companion-pass/, "If you have a Marriott account, you’ll have to convert the Marriott account (and points) to a Ritz-Carlton account before applying for the Ritz-Carlton Rewards card."

Did we need to do this? Wife applied yesterday and was accepted. She already has a Marriott account. I don't want to convert the Marriott account to a Ritz account, correct? Wouldn't we now just sm them once the card is in the account and ask them to match the 140K instead of the two nights? Or do I need to contact them and convert Marriott account to Ritz, or let them know I have a Marriott account so that is where they put the points?

Not that I've seen anyone writing differently, but I was matched to the 140k over the weekend (took a few days to get a response).

not too happy with the 140k marriot miles i got from this card 3 months ago. Marriot point is as bad as Hilton and requires so much to redeem for reward nights. The only other option I see is transfer the 140k to United for 50K united miles.

I already got $4500 and will get another $5000 of value from them.

One example of a good value

JW Marriott Shanghai 140,000 points gets your 17 nights and the gold status will get you an upgrade to a suite, $500x17=$9350.

Correct no need to "convert anything"

Similarly, I recently got both the Ritz Carlton and the Marriott card without having a Rewards account with either program. To my surprise, Chase went ahead and set me up with a single rewards number on both cards. What I'm unsure of right now is if I should create an online login for both Ritz and Marriott or just for one. And in the second case, for which program should I create the login? Thanks.
