Update: 6/16/15:
So I smed chase again and got the same response, denying to match to 140k. I then called Chase and got a very nice rep who tried to match it for me but was unsuccessful. It said in her system that they were only matching to 140k credit cards that were applied before April 30th. I applied May 14th. She then gave me 5k Ritz points as a courtesy and told me to try to call Ritz Rewards and ask them to replace my 2 free nights with the equivalent amount of points (probably not 140k). I did just that and the Ritz rep said she cannot do that. Blah blah.....

JetBlue seat upgrades and delta seat upgrades worked for me.
Airline GC are very YMMV as there are reports of chase asking for receipts.

if I have 140k in my account & my wife has 140k in her account how do I go about combining our accounts to get 280k? I know it was mentioned somewhere upthread but cant find it now......

You need to find a stay that's exactly 280K. Call Marriott rewards at 800-450-4442, book that stay and tell them your spouse will transfer the additional points needed. They will fax or email you a form that needs to be signed by the one transferring. Once it is completed you can cancel reservation and the points will all go back into that account.

When I did it, they only let me transfer the amount of points needed for that reservation.

I had an three month existing res @ 120 K when I realized I paid for it all on my account . Wife's account had 71,400 . Asked them to split the existing res and fund 71,400 from wife and rest from mine

Said they would have to cancel existing Res and risk not getting it back. Emailed me a form , wife signed it and they created fake res , credited the 71 K CXLED res and my account 71 K richer

Ask for silver or gold line . Did this 2 weeks ago .

Funny thing just happened! Right after I posted this I called up to do a transferand for the first time I had a rep tell me that I can only transfer  the balance! I told him to wait while I take points out of the account, via new reservation, he said ok sent me the form and then I cancelled original reservation. First that ever happened to me.

When booking the jet blue ticket for the airline credit, do I have to first purchase a standard ticket, and then upgrade, or when originally booking the ticket I can choose the mint- business ticket,- by seat selection - and that will be seen as a upgrade ?

My EMS seats posted as one charge when I booked them at the same time as the basic ticket. They posted as separate charges when I upgraded later. Chase didn't bat an eye at either one.
