Update: 6/16/15:
So I smed chase again and got the same response, denying to match to 140k. I then called Chase and got a very nice rep who tried to match it for me but was unsuccessful. It said in her system that they were only matching to 140k credit cards that were applied before April 30th. I applied May 14th. She then gave me 5k Ritz points as a courtesy and told me to try to call Ritz Rewards and ask them to replace my 2 free nights with the equivalent amount of points (probably not 140k). I did just that and the Ritz rep said she cannot do that. Blah blah.....
This really sucks <img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/tapatalk-emoji/emoji35.png" />

Update: 3/23/15: Many recent reports of successful match to 140k offer via SM
Updated link: https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/ritz-carlton-card.aspx
Standard offer is for 2 free nights at Ritz Cat 1-4 which is not too bad either.

Update 2/9/15: DEAD
current offer  140k bonus points +$300 airline credit annual fee 395 not waived
link https://www.theritzcarltonrewardscard.com/offer140k

To get $300 airline credit call 1-855-896-2222
don't buy gift cards from Chase affiliated airlines (United, SW..)
As Chase may be able to see what you purchased

JetBlue seat upgrades and delta seat upgrades worked for me.
Airline GC are very YMMV as there are reports of chase asking for receipts.
(Seat upgrades are officially covered in the T & C.)

any recent data points on getting matched to the 3 night signup bonus after originally applying via the 2 night offer?
They stopped doing it.

Have a couple DP's this week of them not matching...

any reports of problems w buying seat upgrades for $300, do they look at last years credit/ card history?

Yes had someone recently do this and got credited.

I just got my request for extension declined because of lack of activity on my cc, this was over email.

Did this a couple weeks ago over a phone call no problem. Took less then 5 minutes. HUCA. And CALL. You can call this number:
 (888) 696-0394

I didn't know there was another type

Lol

Any DP on year 2?

Yeah hit second year a couple months ago and no charge.

If I get the travel credit and then get a refund from the carrier, does Chase take the credit back? How about if it's a month or two later?

I tried this with Delta and got the travel credit. But when I canceled my ticket, I noticed the fine print that says you lose the seat upgrade payment.

Are there any airlines that refund the seat upgrades when you cancel a refundable ticket?

as per phone rep, they cannot see your cc spend, rather they see your points activity and whether or not the card is open

It doesn't as long as it's within year 1,although anyone I know that did it in year 2 it worked as well.

didn't know that there was such a thing as not refunding the seats on a refundable ticket.
you must be able to do it over the phone

This is from Delta's web site:

ARE THE POST PURCHASE PAID UPGRADES TO DELTA COMFORT+ REFUNDABLE?
All post purchase paid upgrades are nonrefundable and must be used as ticketed. No changes are permitted.  Failure to use the seat upgrades as ticketed will result in forfeiting the upgrade purchased.

My question is, do all airlines have the same policy. If not, which ones?

Apparently OTP is a lot easier than email.
