Update: 6/16/15:
So I smed chase again and got the same response, denying to match to 140k. I then called Chase and got a very nice rep who tried to match it for me but was unsuccessful. It said in her system that they were only matching to 140k credit cards that were applied before April 30th. I applied May 14th. She then gave me 5k Ritz points as a courtesy and told me to try to call Ritz Rewards and ask them to replace my 2 free nights with the equivalent amount of points (probably not 140k). I did just that and the Ritz rep said she cannot do that. Blah blah.....
This really sucks <img src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/tapatalk-emoji/emoji35.png" />

Update: 3/23/15: Many recent reports of successful match to 140k offer via SM
Updated link: https://creditcards.chase.com/credit-cards/ritz-carlton-card.aspx
Standard offer is for 2 free nights at Ritz Cat 1-4 which is not too bad either.

Update 2/9/15: DEAD
current offer  140k bonus points +$300 airline credit annual fee 395 not waived
link https://www.theritzcarltonrewardscard.com/offer140k

To get $300 airline credit call 1-855-896-2222
don't buy gift cards from Chase affiliated airlines (United, SW..)
As Chase may be able to see what you purchased

JetBlue seat upgrades and delta seat upgrades worked for me.
Airline GC are very YMMV as there are reports of chase asking for receipts.
(Seat upgrades are officially covered in the T & C.)

I'm thinking about getting the card in a few months. If you're an airline elite, then you likely have most or all incidentals for free. But has anyone tried this - you purchase the ticket using your main travel card, and then during the check-in, you pay for checked bags using the Ritz card. I can have 3 free bags, but I can select 4-6 bags, so I'd need to pay for 1-3 bags. And then you cancel the flight for a travel credit. Would the payment for the checked bags be reimbursed to the Ritz card, or would be included in the travel credit?

It doesn't need to be this complicated. You can book a refundable flight and choose the option to upgrade your seat to a higher class while booking (take a screenshot of this). Submit the screenshot while asking for the credit to be applied. If you end up not being able to make the flight, you can always cancel it if needed.

I typically fly AS, and I get all their seats for free (except First class). There is nothing I can pay to upgrade to.

There are other airlines. I think you’re missing the point.

All right, let's clarify. Let's say I purchased a UA ticket and paid for a checked bag/upgraded seat, etc. I canceled the reservation for a UA travel credit. Sure, I can get incidentals paid by the Ritz card, but why would I need the UA travel credit if I don't fly UA? I get that I can sell it, but I'd rather get an AS credit since I fly them anyway.

Cancel for a refund. Chase doesn't usually claw back credits, particularly manually applied ones...

"You can book a refundable flight." This is what I was referring to when I was saying you are missing the point.

Guys, those of you who did a product change, how soon did you apply for the RC card? Did you wait a year, less, more? I believe it's recommended to wait at least a year, but I'd like to hear your opinions.

It is not only recommended to wait at least a year but rather required.

Got it. Once the year is over, how much longer one would wait? A week, 30 days?

Just upgraded to this card two weeks ago. Can I use the $300 travel credit for 2023 and then again in 2024, or am I not eligible for reimbursement until 2024?

You definitely are eligible for this year already.

according to the terms of the Amex cards, having this card can affect sign up eligibility for Amex's marriott cards, particularly the more expensive ones. Is that a fair trade-off to get this card immediately? AF just hit on $95 chase card and got the free night so I want to upgrade now vs. later but is it worth giving up bonuses on those cards?

Welcome back the all-metal Ritz-CarltonTM Credit Card
Due to popular demand, we're replacing your current Ritz-Carlton™ Credit Card with a metal one in January.

Does this mean they went plastic and are returning to metal or are they now going back to the super thick metal they used to have?
