Under 21 in Florida Hotel

My younger sister wants to stay at the Four Points by Shearton Miami beach however she is just 17. Her friend going with her is 19. Will she have a problem checking in? I would put the reservation under my name as they have my date of birth and I am over 21 I am just not sure how to arrange this and if she will have a problem.

I've had problems in hotels in FL <21, but also stayed in (at least) one. Remember, dress is important (was with a smart aleck who walked into the lobby in his bathing suit after a day at the beach, and was declined check in).

Also, I was once in a hotel in Maryland where it was an issue, and the check-in lady let me as there was an additional guest >21 registered in the room. He was far, far, away

Ah so I have 3 options.

A:tell my sister to not go to Florida

B:Put her name on the reservation with me as we have same last name and hope for the best because she is 17.

C:Put her friend on the reservation and she is 19 but different last name.

What would you reccomend?

She should definitely go to FL!!!

I would do both B & C with separate (refundable?) reservations if possible, if not, you and 1 the 9 year old. No one will (officially) let a 17 year old check in.

Also, make sure there is a back up option in a nearby hotel...

Put her friend on the reservation I have done this at least.10 times including the Westin ft Lauderdale and the Sheraton there and some creepy south beach joint that Orbitz thinks is a 4 star hotel

They gave me an issue at the W South Beach so I told them my wife was over 21 and she would be flying in later that night, they told me to have her stop by the front desk when she gets in but of course she did not and all was good

Ok sounds like a plan. The reservation would be non refundable as is cheaper for those nights. I will do option C with the 19 year old and tell my sister to wait ourside so that they do not think it is a bunch of teenage girls.

I am assuming would be advisable to give her my credit card that I am doing the booking with?

Not needed, but may help as proof you're about to come. Just make sure there's a plan B.

How would I be able to make a plan b non refundable reservation for the same day? Usually once it hits the same day they are non refundable.

Also would I lose all the money in the reservation plan A if denied or since they are not letting her check in then we they would refund her? If not may pay to just make a refundable reservation.

If it were me, I'd probably stick with refundable reservations. Unless the hotels individuals site clearly states the minimum age is 18.

Make sure there is no limitation of within 24 hours to stay - BA allows cancellation within 24 hours of booking but not (officially) if it's within 24 hours of travel.
