In the long run it can help
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

If your used fake names then cancel them all and start adding real people, i.e. yourself, multiple times
i did not use fake names. These were my cousin's kids all legit and over 16.

If I add an AU to a business card (AMEX in case it matters), and I don't give over the person's SSN, then there's no way it would show up on their CR right? Especially since it's a business card in the first place, right?

Even with SS# it won't show up, it's a business card.

If I add a family member as an AU on my Business cc will it help their score and the like?

Here's the deal: My wife was a AU on somebody's account who was delinquent and ended up settling for less. Now it's on her credit report, only TU and EQ, can I dispute that?

You should be able to. She wasn't financially responsible for the account.

Isn't this the whole thing with being added as an AU to an account. You can get the benefits, but if they are delinquent, it will stay on you as well.

That's what I thought as well, but I can't remember where I read it.

You can dispute it, I know more than one person who had it removed from their CR.

I guess you can try it but after reading up about it online again I don't know if it will work. It seems like that is kind of what you sign up for when you become an AU. I guess the approach would need to be to dispute being an AU in the first place. Like you she was added without her knowledge.

This is from creditkarma:

"..credit bureaus treat these cards as if they were your own."

"..Essentially, the primary account holder's actions look like your own. If they miss a payment on this credit card, you miss a payment. If they rack up an extremely high credit card utilization, so do you. This can kill your credit score, the exact opposite of what you want."
Work hard, Play harder!

Just so you guys know as far as backdating accounts. About 2 and a half years ago my father added me as an au on his Yale card from FNB Omaha and it shows up on my credit report that the account was opened in 1998 (when he opened it) so it helps my average credit age. So most of you probably don't know somebody who has a card from FNB Omaha, but if you do and their account is old, you might want them to add you as an au and see if you get backdated.

I don't think it is for a specific card, it used to work on any card. Very very YMMV if someone were to try and do that now.

That's too bad if it doesn't work anymore😟
Maybe I'll ask my dad to add somebody else and see what it does.
