You'd think Amex knows their own cards but their computers are a mess trying to keep track. I tried closing an account. Instead she starts closing an au card on someone else's account.

I think that this can sometimes work in our favor.

I keep on having this issue when applying for new cards. They say i have 20 new accounts in the past six months. It takes ten minutes but i explained that the are not new lines of credit and they re-evaluate and approve the app. :-)
If anyone can add the solution to this problem to the wiki...
Is this problem only when you add yourself as a AU on your account or  when added on someone else's account or both?

General Question for the kahal: Do you use 1 online account for all your AUs or diff accounts for each one?
Also is there a max of AUs that can be registered to 1 online account?

For promotion purposes, it's better to have each it's one account.

Most people put several on 1 account. It would be endless to make a new account for each au.

Pretty sure that he used it for SBS. The guy did it with bachurims SSNs from different yeshivas he worked for.
Pretty sure that's big time illegal.

Doesn't work for Barclay's. They even saw that many were au cards. But I have heard that barclays is very jig on the new account issue.

Other than many new accounts, and I guess impacting average age of credit, is there anything not good about having dozens or hundreds of au cards on my credit report?

+1 The yeshiva figured out how to protect themselves without getting him locked up, everybody that was there in the last 5 years got a letter in certified mail that was written by their lawyer. (even the guys that were in yeshiva had the letter mailed to their house) Honestly I'm happier that he's not in prison, if he would have actually taken out loans in everybody's name I wouldn't say that.

I want my brother in law to add me on to his Chase account as an AU to better my credit score. Will Chase be able to link my information to the card when all that is required is a name? There are plenty of John Does out there, plus I don't live at the same address as my BIL, so how could the credit bureaus know that it's me?

How bad is it to add oneself as an AU when it shows up on credit report, how long is it bad? What happens when the au cards is closed and or when the primary is closed? Do they disappear? Is there any way to get them removed?

AFAIK everyone does that for SBS. What effect it has...I'd love to know too.
