You could do it however you want on all your accounts as long as you're providing ssn.

How bad is it to add oneself as an AU when it shows up on credit report, how long is it bad? What happens when the au cards is closed and or when the primary is closed? Do they disappear? Is there any way to get them removed?

If it doesn't show up on your credit report its fine. However people have been seeing it show up recently. I don't think anyone knows yet whether or not it can really affect your (or someone else's) credit to be an au lots of times over

I don't believe anyone has seen an AU with someone else' ssn show up on his own report.

It showed up on my credit report & now im having a hard time with getting approvals etc. just cancel the au's under my name & replace them with other family members?

You should be able to dispute them with the credit agencies.

New amex AU's have been showing up the last couple months. Last year SBS they were not, but the new ones added in april and may are. Experian

Interesting. I added ten au's in may & as of last week they were not on my Experian report. Does it take time to show up? I added in beginning of may

Can I get the account removed?
Yes, you can. The creditor does not have to report that account to the credit bureaus. In most cases, one spouse adds another spouse on an account as an authorized user to help improve his or her credit.

Call the company and see whether you can remove the account verbally or whether you must make the request in writing. You can still use the account even after removing it from your credit report unless you would also like to take your name off the account.

Anyone ever try this with Amex when they add themselves as AU and still keep it open?
