bs. Adding a AU isn't even a soft pull. You sound like the guy on DDMS comments that wrote once "checking your Amex offers too often will result in a FR!

Does chase AU help for credit? Is there a way to put a social on it?

If you add the AU online you have the option of putting in the social and I believe it helps somewhat.

you said that perfectly, only somewhat. Chase won't approve someone for their own card if the only credit history they have is a chase AU. but if you're an AU on an Amex, it's a whole different league!

I thought I read that if you put your social in ,it's a hard pull on the primary user. Is that also bs?

SSN for AUs on Amex
« Reply #372 on: August 26, 2014, 04:30:50 PM »
Over the last few years I opened quite a few Additional User cards with American Express. Although they asked me, I was never required to provide any Social Security numbers. Recently, I opened a business card. When I tried activating the AUs, they demanded the SSN.
Does anyone know if this is a policy only for business cards? Perhaps, is there a way to go around it?

Thank you!

For someone with no credit at all, is there a benefit of adding him as an AU to a long time amex account, to help them start? FWIU, they no longer backdate, but is there any reason still to add?

I also got that prompt when trying to activate the employee card for a business account. I did not try to see if I could get around that by calling.

There's no reason to add to an old Amex account over a new one.
