So one thing I am not fully able to weigh :

Especially in regards to AMEX where a big goal is to plan the year around SBS to make sure to have enough AU's to really get a big chunk out of SBS.  Dan himself writes:

"-Adding too many additional users.
This is a known trigger for an American Express financial review."

Now, I know that "what is too many" is the big question but even if u have no more then 10 per card (many many have much more :)) I assume that in regards to this AMEX looks at the entire accoutn activity. And if I have 6 cards with 10 each wont 60 AUs be more then enough to trigger a F/R?

Just trying to see how ppl with 100-200 AUs deal with this. What experience they have had with this and if it actually had a bad affect. (close account etc).

Thanks
60 AU's divided over 6 accounts should be safer than 60 on 1 account.

I understand and agree on the "safer" but that doesnt mean its safe. Which is why I wanted to hear what experiences ppl have made. In the end of the day im wondering if they just say "Account for Mr X : 7 cards(!), 130 AUs (!!) > Thats a F/R.

I want the 130 w/out the F/R but it seems that according to what Dan suggests that that isnt so simple with AMEX.

People here have made hundreds of AUs apparently. I think that in the hype of things they were ready to take the risk. I'm waiting it out to see how many of them will be FRed in the coming weeks. By next year we should have much clearer guidelines as to how much and how often is too much or too often.

A couple of days ago I got my Barclays Arrival Plus. I tried adding an AU online, but didn't allow me. So I wrote them a SM. This is the weird reply I got from them:

Quote
Dear **** ***** :

Thank you for contacting us regarding your Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard. We can certainly address your request for additional user on your account.

We understand your concern, however, in order to send additional card, we must add **** ***** as an authorized user on your account. Please note that you will be financially responsible for transactions made by authorized users on the account. The account will be reported on authorized user's credit report, which will specify that they are an authorized user on your account.

The authorized user will have the following capabilities:

- Request for Convenience Checks
- Request a new card for themselves only (card is sent to the address on file)
- Activate cards
- Request balance transfers
- Remove themselves from the account (they cannot close the account)
- Make payments from any external payment account on file

Authorized users are not able to do the following:
- Close accounts
- Reinstate closed accounts
- Add other Authorized Users to an account
- Request increases or decreases to the credit line
- Request credit balance refunds
- Register for website access

Should you wish to proceed in adding **** ***** as an authorized user on your account, we ask that you provide us the authorized user's date of birth. We hope you find this information helpful.

If you have any other questions and concerns, please reply to this message.

Sincerely,

Customer Care

Was anyone ever requested to provide them with DOB of AU?

Now I tried again online, and didn't have to provide DOB. Interesting.

Many people knew about this previously & people had piles of cards the last few years too.

This might be the first year that he mentioned "yourself" but other years he said you could add 99 AU's per account without needing ssn.

Amex AUs:

When creating separate online accounts for AUs (for offers purposes) it asks for the last 4 of the social.  Is there a way around this for AUs that you have no social for (because they don't exist, or any other reason?)

Can you create two separate accounts for yourself, if you made yourself an AU?

And I know this has been asked before but I haven't seen an answer, when you are an AU for yourself, does it get reported to the CBs as two separate accounts?

How can I remove AU's from my CR?
Is any action necessary after closing the AU card? (Like disputing the AU with the credit bureau's) Very unfamiliar with that, I will appreciate some advice.
Thanks.

Do we have any thread or can it be added to the Wiki:

Looking for overall info on AU's that give you a bonus. Example: 5k UR when adding CSP AU after 1st purchase.

Any other points/bonuses that come with other cards when adding AUs?

I am getting inundated with letters from amex requesting ss#s from au cards. Thet are sending the same letters multiple times. I think this time they are serious!
