Due to all of your data points, I gave it another try, and they pushed through Gold and Green cards. Thanks!  ;D
So obviously #3 is not "hard coded". However, the 2 credit cards I applied for are still pending...
BTW, in my experience, the best # is 800-334-0400.

#3 only applies to credit cards, IME.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

IMO, it's just another number to the same dept.

If an app gets declined, how long does the person need to wait to reapply for that same card?

In you experience by charge cards you had no problem? How about 1 & 1?

I just had a long talk with Recon, and I learned a few things (yes, I know DROPR...):
1 - The "executive team" does actually exist, and they are in Utah, and it is actually possible to talk with them!
According to the "executive" I spoke with:
2 - The old Amex policy of a maximum of 4 credit (not charge) cards has been changed to 5 cards. The reason it was changed is that many customers needed more than 4 (personal, business, etc.). [She was able to cancel an old card and approve a new one on the spot.]
3 - Multiple apps in a short time period (I forget the exact time frame) have a standard mandatory 5 day waiting period.
4 - They do not approve more than 2 credit (not charge) cards within 90 days.
I believe that my own experience belies some of these assertions, but I thought it worthwhile to post this info as data points.
After HUCA, the bottom line is DROPR, even "executive" reps!
I got all my apps approved, but I did have to close some cards to remain within the 5 card maximum. So, 1 & 2 seem to be true, but 3 & 4 clearly are not.

I applied for several charge and credit cards. All the charge cards and 2 of the credit cards were approved, and the 3rd one (Delta) was not, because they only approve 2 credit cards within 90 days. Now, I know that this is not necessarily true, but I couldn't get them to budge. Any suggestions? Thanks.
ETA: PMs welcome.

Here is the text of the letter:

"Thank you for applying for the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card. We value your Membership and appreciate your interest in another American Express Card. We regret we are unable to approve this request. The reason for our decision is that you have reached the maximum number and type of Cards that we will approve within the period of a few months..."

Any way around this?

Did Amex change their policy and start allowing multiple credit apps on the same day?
