My wife recently got a targeted offer for AMEX Delta with no language limiting signup bonus to new customers. I applied for the card and again, no pop-up warning that she's had the card before. AMEX called because she already had 5 cards, but gladly approved it after she closed one.

Now AMEX says they decided not to give her the signup bonus because she's churned the card twice before, and even though the T&C doesn't say new users only, it says they reserve the right to modify or withdraw the offer, which they're doing because she's abused it. This is for AMEX Delta Biz if it matters.

Has anyone else had something like this happen? Any recourse?
Not that I know off, this makes hard to know whether it is worth applying to cards you previously had even with no language.

Not unheard of. Best strategy is to move on, sometimes they'll credit the points anyway in 6-12 months.

Thanks, my question is if it's worth it to do the 4k spend knowing this in advance. After posting here, I looked around and found that I'm far from the only one. DOC has a post about it from December, but then in March posted that many of those people ended up getting their SUBs, some after filing complains with AMEX and CFPB. If I'd already met the spend I'd certainly fight them. Having just gotten the card, I wonder if I should give it a shot, or focus my spending on more lucrative projects.

Good chance points will post regardless of what rep says. I would do the spend.

I recently applied for AMEX Hilton Aspire card and got rejected due to "too much debt". I called Amex reconsideration line 3 times and still no luck for approval. I have a great FICO score of over 800 and have been with AMEX for more than 5 years now. The Debt I believe is Student loan. any suggestions or tips would be appreciated/
I have personal and business marriot card blue cash and simply cash with (4 AMEX card)

I received a call from AMEX letting me know I was approved but they informed me that I have 5 Amex consumer cards already and if I want to get this new card I would need to close one. I thought of an idea since I already have the Hilton surpass card maybe I can convert that card into the ascend card and not have to go through the whole process of canceling and opening a new card but I want it to be done in a way that I get that I am eligible for the sign up bonus and the terms that were on my application form.

Has anyone heard of this or done this before?

You won't get the SUB unless you have a offer to upgrade

An upgrade is different then a new application and i guess wouldn't be waived.

They do not always do a new inquiry.

I got an inquiry after submitting the 4506T.  Got denial day of submission due to too many new cards. Will call recon tomorrow.
Although, the original application was made less than 30 days after closing cards, but i apparently sent in the wrong version of the 4506T. I took the one from IRS website date June 2019  and amex wanted March 19 or Sept 18 and they never said anything or sent letter. 3.5 weeks later after vacation i called and they told me that and i resent it in and got the new pull that day.
