This has definitely been answered, but I will ask it again. Is Amex recon open on Sunday?

I applied for a Bus Plat today and after I hit apply it went through the motions and I got this:

"We are sorry.
Currently, our systems are not responding. Please try again later or call us at 1-800-519-OPEN (6736) to apply for a Card. We apologize for any inconvenience."

but when I checked app status page, the app is pending, and I called and they said it's pending and been sent for manual review.

Anyone gotten that before? It's very strange to say the least.

Strange, but the bottom line is the app went through,so there  is nothing to worry about

I am still working on getting approved for my 3BM from Amex around two weeks ago. After the app, all three were pending, and after I called they sent them up for review.

Two of them were subsequently declined for insuffient credit history, but they were sent back to the review time. I called them today, and they said that they cannot do anything, and we just need to wait for the review team to review it.

Was the associate wrong? Two weeks sounds like way too long.

If anyone can chime in, it would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Can you call Amex after you're approved and confirm the bonus offer you signed up for is attached to your card? Or do you have to wait until you get the card in the mail.

It seems to me that Amex Recon has no power to approve an App as all they tell me is, "We will send it for further review to another department". I must be missing something. please enlighten me....

Sorry for the long post, if you're getting dizzy, just skip it :)

Just had such'a funny story with them.
Applied for the Platinum and got the pending massage, called up recon, and here's the conversation.

Me: Hi, I just applied for the Platinum card and it says I'll get a decision in 10-12 days, is there any way you can expedite it?

Rep: Sure Mr. Novo, just rest assured and I'll do the very best for you.

Rep: What's the date today?

Me: Aug. 6

Rep: May I place you on hold?

Me: Sure
-waiting on hold- -rep comes back-
Rep: If you're getting approved, is it ok to get your card in 7-10 days? (#weird)

Me: Sure

Rep: Ok, so before I can approve your application I'll request from you... -I got chills- A BIG SMILE  ;D

Me: ROFL

Rep: Congratulations, your application is approved and you'll get your card by Friday

I never had such an easy recon and I found it funny/weird :)

Congrats, you got a nice rep. I'm sure you told him you'll give the smile if he expedites the MR points & waives the AF. :)

Ha! Thank you!
BTW I'm not paying the AF for the first year, I applied with this link

What do you say to the fact that I didn't get an inquiry, have you ever heard of that?

This seems like a good card to get if you've already received a platinum sign up bonus with the lifetime rule...otherwise would rather pay fee for up to150k

It does offer 25k (see the pic. ^^) but you're right, it's only good for someone who already got the bonus on it -and this is my case- but you can still get the $400 with PGGM which is the same good as the Arrival card -or even much better, with all the benefits that come with it-

Is there a 150k offer on the personal?

agreed, it's a great way to enjoy the benefits fee free for a year! Much better than arrival IMHO but don't know if I'd give up a possible 125k by taking only 25k if it's a first time aplicant...

If you're a first time applicant, you should definitely apply with a 100k offer!

How do you get to 125k?

Can potentially have a 150k offer and i subtracted the 25k that you would get from this, meaning giving up 125k, if you have a 100k offer you are giving up 75k...that's my thinking
