Got the "it's with the executive team" line (which may not actually be a line...), who apparently won't be back 'till Tuesday...

I think it depends what the issue is. Some issues they can deal with; others they really can't.

There will be another pull the day the application is processed.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I already have a personal plat, but I got an offer in the mail, so I applied for another one. First it said that it was "canceled" because I have that card. So I called and asked for recon. Now the status changed to "in progress".
So recon un-cancelled it and sent it for what they said is a manual review. Now wait or call recon again?
I think we're in the exact same position. I called again, and they said that there's nothing to do but wait... I don't think HUCA or DROPR applies here...

After almost two weeks, and several calls, and downgrading my old platinum to green, they finally approved it. :)
How about you, cholent?

I just had a long talk with Recon, and I learned a few things (yes, I know DROPR...):
1 - The "executive team" does actually exist, and they are in Utah, and it is actually possible to talk with them!
According to the "executive" I spoke with:
2 - The old Amex policy of a maximum of 4 credit (not charge) cards has been changed to 5 cards. The reason it was changed is that many customers needed more than 4 (personal, business, etc.). [She was able to cancel an old card and approve a new one on the spot.]
3 - Multiple apps in a short time period (I forget the exact time frame) have a standard mandatory 5 day waiting period.
4 - They do not approve more than 2 credit (not charge) cards within 90 days.
I believe that my own experience belies some of these assertions, but I thought it worthwhile to post this info as data points.

It's funny: all the previous times I asked, they said it's impossible. This time, I didn't even ask; the rep just asked me to hold, and then the exec picked up. ::)

3 happened to me (wife) last Tuesday, with another hard pull yesterday. 4 was no problem
