Found this article interesting, if the Pro lives up to expectations it could make the iPad and Mac air obsolete. http://gizmodo.com/5919521/microsoft-surface-just-made-the-macbook-air-and-the-ipad-obsolete

True. I am very excited to see the iPhone 5 (Jobs last hoorah) And assumingly the other products would follow suite with big changes.
x box?
That was the last (only?) good piece of hardware they made especially the xbox slim. But that is a totally different category.

+1

I agree this idea looks really cool, but when it come to hardware Microsoft just doesnt make it. I cant imaging in 2 years everyone walking around with this instead of an apple product. (as now everyone has an ipod, or a ipad...)

Windows 8 was designed to be used on a touch screen - tablet.

IMHO Windows is too complicated of a platform for a tablet.

I think this Surface is a good idea, but Microsoft will just not make it, they cant get it right

This product reminds me of this quote:

In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is!

We'll see if Microsoft delivers, and that's a big if!

Ad the full video of the keynote announcing this product:

looks cool, it reminds me of the Asus Tablet/laptop

Looks hot, but what's the UX (User eXperience) like? Name Changed?

Looks really cool to me!  Especially me being an Apple hater, I can't wait for this device to hit the market and wipe out Apple for goodness sake.  I'm waiting for Microsoft to combine their expertise with Google (and a sprinkling of RIM and Palm) and then we've really got somethin' goin'!

I am.
I had the first model - TF101

As a tablet I really liked it, it was the first tablet to have the ICS grade.

It was a really productive tablet IMHO.

But - it only had a dual core processor, and starts to lag when a handful of apps are open, and with the dock its really heavy and not that portable... also it makes it pretty thick...

I sold it. I now it an now have the newer one - The TF201.

I happen to really like it.

There is a small problem with it - since its made out of aluminum the outside body blocks the wifi antenna so it doesn't have such a good reception. Also the GPS antenna is blocked, so if you use the tablet for GPS it'll take time to get a lock on location...

The pros of it its has a quad core, its really snappy and smooth. It has a IPS + display - really bright. Its brighter than the iPad 2 (I am not sure about comparing it to iPad 3)
Asus has stopped producing this one a while ago, and now has a new series the TF300T and TF700. The TF700 is not avail yet.

The TF300t is now on sale at Office Max for $349 and the keyboard is also on sale for $99
(BTW - if you buy either with an Amex Open Biz you will save 10% + UR Mall 5x points ;))

This tablet has the same Tegra 3 quad core processor but its @ 1.2GHz. The display is just an IPS (same as TF101). The body is a little thicker than the TF201 since its plastic... I prob will get this one soon ;)
