Easiest way to build credit is to have your parent add you with your SSN to their account.

If I'm an AU for someone and dont spend anything on my card does the fact that im an AU still build my credit since others are using their card?

There's no 'one-size-fits-all' answer.  Just about anything you do might be helpful for some and unhelpful for others.

What you can do is apply some general principles:

1. Older AU accounts are better, because they will increase your average credit age.  If the account is older than your current average credit age, then that's going to be a positive factor (which again, does NOT necessarily mean that it's going to increase your score overall).
2. Higher-limit, lower-balance AU accounts are better, because they will show lower utilization on your credit report.  If your utilization when including the AU account goes down (versus without the AU account), that's also going to be a positive factor.
3. Having several AU accounts is probably better than having 1 or 2 (since scores tend to be higher with more accounts on your report), but that's probably diminishing returns and I won't go overboard just for the sake of having a ton of accounts.  I'd focus more on factors (1) and (2) than number of accounts.

you are referring to joint account (meaning joint responsibility) that never stoped under the new laws feb 2010 au where non factoring. are you saying now au also are helping? why would it revert back after federal law?

Yes, apart from the AU designation, the account reports the same on the primary and AU reports.
