Sounds good to me. A little quick but that's what you have time for.

Lake Como, make sure you go to bellagio. Not a ton to do but it will take your breath away. Swimming and apparently some water sports which I didn't find.

Florence make sure your see the David, it's one of those pieces of art that exceed expectations. Don't need a lot of time, just make sure you see the shul

thanx for your help...my itinerary seems to have changed because everyone i know in milan is on vacation and theres nothing really to do in milan they say.
so heres the new question

#1 . wednesday afternoon until thursday eve- rome
night train to venice and spend friday/shabbos in venice.
sunday take train to lake como and spend day there and sleep in milan and fly out of milan in AM
OR

#2 . same as above just add in somehow florence - or put it in instead of como.

thanx

Can you fly out of Florence? Otherwise I don't see how you could squeeze Florence in. unless you train Thursday night to Florence and spend half a day there, but then it might be tight with shabbos

Was just in Florence, really aint much to do their (boring).  There is a great lookout point over the city, David, and a really really nice shul you cant take pictures of.

i cant fly out of florence, too expensive.
the final plan and tickets are booked - wed to rome, thursday night to venice get there by friday morning stay till sunday morning and either train or rent a car and see lake como and garda, and maybe some other places in that area depending on how much time i have.
monday fly out of milan to krakow and spend there till wed. night and take a night train back to prague.
4 hours after arriving in prague, i have a flight back to US.  - looking forward!
now im gonna be moving on to the details in each appropriate thread

has anyone taken the train from Krakow to prague or vise versa?

I don't see a Finland MT, so I figured here is as good as a place as any...

I'm thinking of taking a trip to E"Y with a 12 hour layover in Helsinki on the way there, and 8 on the way back.  Six kids under 8.  Thoughts on how to spend the time?

Was joking that I could not imagine doing that with six kids under the age of eight

That's what I figured.  Last time I did it, there were three and it was a direct flight.  Whatever money I'm saving by not flying direct, I'll probably make up in therapist bills.

Yup.
Honestly I've never done it, but I doubt you can expect to do anything. I would rent a room in a hotel with a pool and take the kids swimming, try and get some of the younger ones a nap, etc.

I was thinking about a hotel.  The problem I run into is that the flights get into HEL at 11 AM (inbound), and 6 AM (outbound).  The 11 AM I thought I could probably get a hotel to give us early check-in.  But for the 6 AM, I'm concerned I might need to book two nights.  The other problem is that we are going to be 9 people (mother's helper).  That is officially over the limit for any cheap, basic room.

I do not know where to put these questions so I will try here....

I am flying last minute to Budapest the idea is to go from there to Vienna and then Prague and then drive back to Budapest. What is the best way to get around? Would trains be recommended? Cars seemed to be expensive and gas is definitely expensive.

If you only want to see in the cities then train may be a good idea. seat61 is a good site to plan your train travels.

If you drive and you have time you can stop along the way in smaller towns, in Bohemia Pilsen and Brno are worth stopping even for a few hours.

Are there Kosher options for the train when booking a sleeper?

I don't think so. Take food with you from one of the local restaurants.
