Flying LGA- Toronto - Avoid baggage fees?
« on: June 19, 2012, 11:57:11 PM »
Hi I am flying to Toronto from LGA, on american eagle. I used avios points.

Is there anyway to avoid baggage fees? I will only be there overnight for a wedding. So really sucks to pay that extra $50 in baggage fees for a suit!

The citi executive only covers domestic I believe.

Thanks!

Can't imagine checking a bag on a trip like that.
At any rate any select/exec AA card covers US/Canada.

You can take a hat box suit bag and shopping bag although you may want to learn how to juggle first :)
(or where your hat and put it under the seat in front of you)

get one of those hard plastic hat boxes and put it in your wheelie and pack around it. I do it all the time.

For the record last summer I hit six countries (11 or 13 flights if I recall) over 3+ weeks without checking luggage so goes to show anything is possible. And yes my wife did not either.

i just flew AA with avios and i checked in at kiosk and walked to security holding my teffilin bag, breifcase, and mini suitcase, and they didnt tell me anything.
once you get to the plane they will prob check under for free ur bags cuz they dont fit on the overhead many times.
i once did the same thing + a suit bag and i was trying to figure out where to put everything on the plane and the FA made a face and asked "how'd they let you on with all that?!" :)
