Summer trip 2012
« on: June 20, 2012, 11:07:29 AM »
I'm looking for suggestions for a summer trip. Probably around 5 days. I prefer to stay in North America.
I'm looking for something different. No LA, Miami, Grand Canyon, Banff, or any other regular frum city.

 Something different. Somewhere beautiful.

Any ideas from anyone's personal experiences?

Don't mean to hijack, but I am also looking for the same, with one additional requirement: suitable for an almost 2 year old.

You could. But depending on where you're coming from it will probably be a LONG trip.

I nixed out banff since I've done it. But if any of the places I am considering going there again. It would be nice to see someplace new.

Beach Destination W/ Kohser food:

- Myrtle Beach, SC (Great stuff for kids as well, not too hot)
- Savannah, GA (Very nice Andaz)

Beach Destination without Kohser food but worth it:

- Hilton Head Island, SC (Amazing Cat 4 Westin)
- Outer Banks, NC (VRBO)

Extremely underrated mountain destinations:

- Blowing Rock, NC (Chetola Lodge www.chetola.com)
- Asheville, NC (Tons of Hotel options, but check out Bitlmore Estate)
- Gatlinburg, TN

I've been to all the above so I can give more details if anyone is interested.

Aint nothing like summer at the Redneck Riviera.

Spent a week in Savanna/Hilton Head 2 years ago and loved it.

If you're into touring, history & sightseeing - Savannah. Beach, Watersports, Biking and romantic seclusion - HHI or Outerbanks. Fun stuff to do, amusement park, Ripley's believe it or not, action theaters and kids activities + great watersports and kosher food - Myrtle Beach. Whitewater rafting, swinging bridges, mountain climbing, waterfalls, hiking and breathtaking views (sometimes from above the clouds) Blowing Rock.

I vote for HHI cuz you feel like it's America's best kept secret when you're on the island.
