Need United Baggage Advice

Im traveling from Newark to Hawaii in mid August and am trying to find a way to get free baggage for my wife and I.  I have a onepass chase credit card but the ticket was bought by someone else using miles and a different card for taxes.

It's only 7 weeks until the flight so I'm not sure it's enough time to apply for a new credit card but I'm willing to.  Any suggestions?

And either way, 7 weeks is WAY more than enough time for a new CC. Heck, even 7 DAYS can be enough sometimes.
