Someone should start a thread of crazy things they brought through security. and include pre/post 9/11. I flew with a pocket knife 4in. blades out of LGA Post 9/11.

I just brought matches on a plane last week. They have no way of knowing that I have matches with the metal detector and although they 'felt up' my wife and baby, they didn't get their hands in my pants to find the matches...

As they were busy 'searching' my wife (who was holding the baby) they complained that all of our stuff was clogging up the conveyor belt and asked me why it's taking me so long to remove everything. I told them it's because of my terribly suspicious looking baby and said they'd better make sure she's not a threat cause she seems reaaally dangerous......

What's interesting to me is that in some countries abroad they ate lots stricter on what can go thru.
For example in china they won't let lighters thru and in us they will. In Thailand they don't let toothpaste and in US they do.

I have brought a lighter on every single flight I've ever been on and only had it confiscated once. Although I think it may actually be legal now.

I also got onto the plane with a sharp pair of scissors EWR-TLV on CO. But this was before 9-11. Regardless, I dont think security noriced it.
