Depends on your tax bracket. If you depend on food stamps and housing NYS is great!

If you pay 6%-10.90% income tax, not so great.

As for the heat, no one is saying it doesn't stink and Hawaii isn't better. But plenty will say it's better than the cold.

I don't rely on NYS for food stamps or housing, B"H. For me, the income tax rate doesn't crack the list of considerations in choosing a place to live

It's a big consideration for many of the NY transplants down here.

Not everyone is bothered by heat as much.
