Good morning! Anyone have any ideas where to find hotel availability near Vancouver airport right now?

I have 3 crew members who landed in CYVR a couple of hours ago and aren't having any luck with hotels as it seems something is going on in Vancouver and everything is sold out. Would even drive an hour or so to a nearby town if needed at this point but don't want to have to cross to the U.S for rooms.

I was in the same boat last night but kept trying and eventually the Fairmont airport opened a bunch of rooms. If they are in the airport they can walk up to the front desk and ask about availability.

Wow, no posts on this thread in almost a year! This summer the country is finally open to non-Canadians, but since so many places have changed post-Covid, does anyone have any current info about Shabbos options in Vancouver for davening, eating, and lodging?

I got pretty good double wrapped meals delivered by a caterer Menajem Peretz.

The Jewish Community is quite far from downtown but I think there is a Chabad Minyan downtown on Shabbos.

The Kosher wine everyone in BC is of very poor quality

CX may be coming back (although it seems that they are not planning a 5th Freedom flight as of now).

Let's hope the communists don't choke them out.

For those arriving or transiting through YVR, the In-terminal Fairmont hotel is great if you like aviation, and the rates are pretty reasonable for a nice hotel.

They also have a freezer to hold coolers overnight etc if you are transiting.

How's noise?

In the new Hyatts in the Circle at ZRH, you don't hear a thing.

Quite good.

You only ever notice the initial engine rev up before taxing out, but even then it’s barely a whisper.
