Would like to plan a trip for the summer Sunday to Thursday. Any recommendations how to do it? Thinking to do Vancouver sun through Tues and then whistler through Thursday. Does that make sense?

Here’s some info I recently sent a friend asking for info for an upcoming Vancouver trip:

Favorite Hotel:  Fairmont Pacific Rim, second choice Shangri-la, third choice Hotel Georgia
I’ve lived in the residential section of all three hotels
I spent 14 years  (May-Sept) going to Vancouver to escape Florida summers.

Things to do:   Walking the sea wall and Stanley Park.   There is an Aquarium in the park if that interests you.   Near the cruise ships is Canada Place and there is an attraction called FlyOver Canada.  It’s about 20 minutes and very entertaining.  I highly recommend it.  I’ve gone 4 times (twice with my husband and 2 more times when friends were visiting).   They offer a senior discount so be sure to get it if you qualify (or even if you don’t 😁).

In Stanley Park you can see the Totem Poles, Beaver Lake, the Overlook.....it helps to be a good walker for the Park.

Also English Bay is a nice area to walk.

Oh, I almost forgot Gastown for a walk thru.

MASSAGE:  BEST PLACE….SMILE THAI WELLNESS  - ask for Austin.    Definitely experience a Thai massage.   604-630-3808.  You can do a couples massage there as well.  Don’t miss it.

Capilano Suspension Bridge is another fun attraction.  It’s about a 20 minute drive from downtown but there is a free shuttle bus that drives you.  If you don’t like heights or the feeling of walking on a suspension bridge then pass this one.

If you gamble, there is a new casino downtown which you can walk to.
Also Rogers Centre which has lots of concerts in case there is one happening while you are there.

Granville Island/Granville Market - you can take the quick ferry over.  I think its free

Vancouver Art Museum is right downtown.

If you like to shop, the mall is almost across the street from the museum.
The US$ is very strong these days to the Canadian $.   Currently 1 US$ = $1.35 CAD but items are priced higher there but there are still discounts to be found.

Lots of places to eat.  Great sushi, fish....everything.....in all price ranges.
Some of the expensive places are Blue Water Cafe, Joe Fortes, Botanist, Market, Hawksworth, Miku
Moderate:  Lobby Lounge at Fairmont Pacific Rim (my favorite hotel), Notch 8
Casual:  Shizenya for sushi, Nuba for Lebanese,
You can find all types of ethnic food:  Indian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Thai, Japanese, American, Greek, etc.

You can take a side trip to Whistler as well.

ENJOY!

How did you manage to stay for free?
Also do you recommend going to whistler overnight? Or better to stay in Vancouver the whole time
