I was in Ho Cho Minh for 3 weeks, and hope to never see that country again.
Why? Did you get mugged?

No, I was sent there by my employer, for a telecommunications project.

Applying for an e-visa online you are limited to 30 days. It's possible to get longer through the embassy. One can also extend their visa in Vietnam. Also, one can use this company: http://www.vietnamvisapro.net

I was in Ho Cho Minh for 3 weeks, and hope to never see that country again.

That site seems to offer the 3 month visa.

Is it such an issue getting the visa at the airport when you land with the approval letter?

Pretty straightforward. there's a special counter where you go and give your papers + cash (make sure to have exact change in USD). One thing is that they don't always process passports in the order that it was received... you can also get someone to greet you at the airport and take care of the dealing for you - for a fee.

Anyone know of a tailor in SGN that will ship the suits? I'll be there for only 24 hours.

Things people did there

nope, I don't confuse the two at all.  King of Lao has been dead for a while as the commies sent him to re-education camp and he never returned. Mines and unexploded ordnance is an issue in Laos and not in Thailand. Anyway, Luang Prabang is a good place to visit, but make sure your insurance covers medical evacuation.

IIRC There weren’t many issues, the front doors always had a door man and it was not electric. There were no sensors to the best of my recollection and they were very happy to hold our key for us when we left and had someone walk us up to our room and open the door for us.

Anyone went price shopping for tour agencies and has one to recommend?
Mainly for a private boat tour.
