Is it worth spending  2 HH weekend certs in Vietnam? SGN or Hanoi would be the locations. Or should I be looking into other chains that are a way greater bang for my buck there?

Depends what your looking for, everyone has different tastes  I stayed in Guest houses as I was doing day trips\Touring mostly by day.

Looks like the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort doubled in points. I checked for this summer, and now it's 50,000/night  :(

Probably still a good value, but now half as good.
wow, was 25k when i went, amazing value

Its for my in laws and I'll be using 2 for Conrad Tokyo and was thinking of using another 2 for Vietnam when they get there.

Trying to figure out the best (nice) option for them in Saigon and Hanoi.

Why would you use them in a hotel where the revenue rate is below the resale value of the certs

Fair enough. I - at this point - hadn't looked into it too much yet but know that I could easily get another set of Certs so figured I'd ask in the thread.

As it seems to not be the best play, is there a sweet spot redemption in Vietnam at current rates? I'll be looking into it myself but just figured if someone knew from personal experience Ill gladly take the advice.

Vietnam is another exotic destination where you will likely/hopefully be spending more time outside then inside. I personally wouldn't splurge on a high end hotel and instead go with something like Sheraton Hanoi - amazing value at 3000 SPG

anyone got a visa recently? it seems that the price depends on the location, time of day, weather and your hair color... How much did you pay?

Was that visa on arrival? isn't the $24 just for the visa on arrival approval and then you also have to pay at the border for the "stamp"? Kindly clarify, thanks

It was just like this:
http://www.myvietnamvisa.com/faqs.html#1

25 USD for single entry
What is visa on arrival? This is an alternative way to get your visa for Vietnam. You just need to fill in our "Online Application Form", pay the service fee, get your "Visa approval letter" within 2 working days and pick up your visa at your destination airport (Hanoi airport, Ho Chi Minh city airport, Cam Ranh Airport Nha Trang and Da Nang Airport) -

After we obtain the approval letter for you, we will forward you a copy by email. Copies of the same document will be forwarded on your behalf to Vietnam Immigration checkpoints at International Airports only. When you arrive in Viet Nam, the Immigration officers will have those documents ready and will be able to issue your entry visa quickly. (See our guide to visa procedure at Vietnam airports)See Also:  You can check out the information below for the detailed airport map where you will pick up your visa when you arrive.
Hanoi Airport Map - Hanoi airport visa-on-arrival counter.
Ho Chi Minh city airport map - Ho Chi Minh city airport visa-on-arrival counter.

I paid about $18 to get the approval letter.
In the airport the stamping fee used to be $45, now it's $25.

Awesome find! Thanks!
Any luck?
