SPG Status Match To Change To A Challenge

Do you have to match platinum status from somewhere else to qualify for the platinum challenge?  Or can I request a platinum challenge even if I don't have platinum status anywhere else? I'm expecting a bunch of hotel stays in the next couple months and would likely meet the 18 day requirement.

You don't need to come with any status. Just start the challenge and have enough stays to qualify.  Good luck !

Just wondering, if I try for the challenge and already have 5 nights does that mean that I now only need 13 nights? (meaning, do the 18 nights include previous stays? or now do I need another 18 on top of what I already have )

I believe that they need to all be after the Challenge is activated.

I have an upcoming stay at a starwood property where I'm taking 3 rooms for 7 days. If I try to get a platinum challenge before my trip, can I only credit 7 of those nights? Or all 21? I am paying for all of them...

I don't think you earn multiple night credits for multiple rooms staying the same night at the same hotel.

I just called SPG to further explore this and the rep told me that I can receive credit for up to 3 rooms per night.... That will give me 21 nights, still not enough for the Plat Challenge.  Any thoughts how I can meet the challenge on this stay?  We will have additional rooms, but for the same nights.

You only need 18 nights for the challenge if i remember correctely pm me if you need more i may be able to help

Do cash and points stays count towards platinum challenge nights?  My understanding was that they used to NOT be, but with the recent policy changes at SPG, they now DO.
